Potomac Floral Wholesale would like to
thank all of our loyal Customers, Suppliers, Growers,
Floral Industry Organizations and Employees who helped make our Open
House Event become such a huge success.
We would also like to thank Mr. René Van
Rems for his outstanding and very entertaining
presentation that brought so much knowledge and beauty to our warehouse.
The feedback from the show has been amazing. We are ecstatic that everyone had
such a great time! Many of the comments complimented us on our dedication to the
flower industry and our commitment to bringing education and training to the local community.

We hope to continue this tradition for many years to come!
At The Show
From the moment the doors of our facility opened at 12:00PM, customers immediately
began to pour in. At Registration each company was given a Potomac Floral
welcome package and a raffle ticket for the Grand Prize Drawing worth $1,000!
Guests were asked to deposit the raffle ticket into the rafflebarrel and were informed
to stay until the end of the show when the winner would be announced.
As visitors entered they were greeted by gorgeous flowers and décor at the
International Growers Exhibit. Twenty vendors were represented from all
over the world, including growers from Ecuador, Thailand, Columbia, Holland,
and the United States. Guests had a chance to Meet & Greet with farm
representatives, discover the newest varieties and trends, and discuss their
ideas and provide instant feedback to the Vendors. In addition, Society of
American Florist (SAF) set up a beautiful booth with two of its representatives;
who provided valuable information on our industry and offered
membership details.
Guests also had a chance to chat with their sales representatives, colleagues
and peers from the industry while they were entertained by the fabulous
Satin Doll Trio. The
live jazz band performed pieces from the early 1950s,
and their smooth melodies helped create a lively atmosphere for the growing
number of visitors. Waiters and Waitresses passed by with wonderful
trays of Hors doeuvres as Guests enjoyed sipping fine wine, drinks and beer.
Once the presentation started, all eyes were on René Van Rems, who
kept the audience captive with his amazing talent, the quick pace of his
training program, and a never-ending supply of jokes. Designers had a chance
to learn about the latest trends, watch René tie amazing bouquets, and hear
the world-renowned, award-winning floral artists recommendations for
design selections. The over 105 minute presentation was such a huge success
that it ended with a standing ovation! Immediately afterwards René began
signing his book: A Guide to Euro-Style Hand-Tied Bouquets.

10 Year Anniversary Celebration and to the Winners of the Design Contests
and Grand Prize Award. First, the employees of Potomac Floral Wholesale
showed their appreciation to the owners of the company by giving an emotional
speech and presenting them with commemorative keepsakes. Next, the Winners
of the Design Contest were presented (please see a list of the Winners below)
and the lucky raffle ticket was drawn for the Grand Prize.
