Wow!
What a Show! We would like to thank all of our Customers,
Vendors, Suppliers, Growers, Floral Industry Representatives,
and Employees who helped us make the 2009 Potomac Floral Wholesale
Open House the best Open House in our 11year history.
Potomac Floral Wholesale would especially like to thank Hitomi
Gilliam for her amazingly beautiful, very educational, and
exceptionally successful presentation. The standing ovation
at the end of her lecture clearly illustrated how much the
Washington, D.C. floral designers appreciate her knowledge.
We are thrilled that our Open House was a huge success and that
everyone had such a wonderful time with us. The comments we
received at, and after, the show demonstrate that our dedication
and commitment to the floral community is very much appreciated.
We are delighted to be able to bring the best educators each year to support
the DC floral community with the latest trends in our industry.

It has become a tradition to include our best vendors in the yearly
celebrations, and 2009 was no exception. Our Grower's Exhibit was vibrant
with colors, scents, and textures as guests admired the newest and prettiest
products from all over the world. Vendors from Columbia, Ecuador, Thailand,
and the United States brought and displayed their most beautiful
flowers and it showed. The SAF representatives have also
become a welcome tradition at our Open House, who offered
details about membership with the organization,
as well as valuable information about the floral industry.
New this year was the Potomac Floral Wholesale Direct Buying
Program station, which seemed to be one
of the busiest stations at the exhibit and served to highlight
the advantages of this new and exciting
PFW program. Please see more details about this program here.
As guests mingled with sales representatives, colleagues, and vendors,
the fabulous Satin Doll Trio played
cool live jazz to entertain everyone.
The smooth voice of Patrice Farris, beautifully carrying the 50's tunes of
Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra,
created a welcoming and warm atmosphere for the arriving visitors.
The caterers outdid themselves this year with the tastiest appetizers, meatballs,
and chickensalad croissants; which were all a huge success (and
demonstrated by the neverending lines at the food station).
We know; we were there more than once too!

However, aside from Hitomi's presentation, the biggest
sensation was the outstanding entries to the design
competition. Our guests were so amazed by the beautiful and creative designs
and admired each composition with such appreciation, that a long line gathered
behind them. We would like to thank all the participants for their amazing
creations and all of our guests for their patience in seeing the designs.
The AIFD judges had a tough time selecting just three winning designs, but
ultimately, they chose the following three compositions.
